Miles deep into the wilderness, this little waterfall sits high in the basin below the spectacular Cirque of the Towers in the Wind River Mountains of Wyoming. I had been there with my wife the previous September, but there was no water running over the falls then. So I decided to go back solo in July the next year and hope for good conditions. The hike in was a rain soaked slog and the mosquitoes were happy to see me. The rain pelted my tent most of the night. Nonetheless, I awoke an hour before dawn and hiked over the the falls. Shrouded in rain gear and a bug net, I set up my tripod and waited for dawn. As quickly as the sun rose on that morning the clouds broke and revealed this scene. Within minutes the clouds were gone and the sky was and empty blue. But I had my shot and I had the experience.
